10 protesters of the Coalition for Revolution were arrested today in Iree, Osun sate and the release of the activists have been demanded, they were involved in the mass peaceful sensitization of the masses about the need to resist the pump price hike, electricity tariff and other anti-poor policy laid out by the administration of president Muhammed Buhari.
In a statement released by CORE through its co-coverners, Baba Aye and Gbenga Komolafe, described the arrest of the protesters as a violation on the fundamental human right of expression and movement.
As reported by CORE, they were arrested around 2;19pm at Iree, Osun state while carrying out a community sensitization on the need to resist and demand for better governance. Their phones have been seized and they have been treated in a dehumanizing manner by the Iree Divisional Police Officers, before the CORE lost contact with them, they learnt that the protesters were in the process of being transferred to Criminal Investigation Department headquarters (CID) at Osogbo.
