13 Traditional leaders killed by Boko haram terrorists in Borno- Monarch

The Sheu of Borno, Alhaji Garbai Elkanemi, announced this during courtesy visit by a delegation of the Senate Committee on Special Duties led by Senator Abubakar Yusuf.
The senators were in Borno State to assess the performance of the North-East Development Commission.

The Monarch claimed that the unrest started in 2009 as a result if a misunderstanding between Izala and Yusufiya Islamic sects.
The activities has affected the state and hindered village heads of being proactive in reporting their activities to the security agencies.
“In the course of their operations, the emirate council lost about 13 district heads in addition to many ward heads, who were killed in their respective domains”, He said.

In August, the Boko haram gunmen stormed a village in Borno, seized six men and slaughtered them.
