A Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan on Friday dissolved a five-year-old marriage between Rabekah Owoade and Adetunji, over his refusal to work.
Delivering judgment, Chief Ademola Odunade, the President the Court, held that it was proper for a man and woman to know each other before getting married to avoid regret in future.
Odunade also said that the marriage was also dissolved on grounds of threat to life.
Earlier, Owoade, a teacher, told the court that her husband was lazy and destructive.
”I should have studied my husband very well before I agreed to exchange marriage vows with him. If I had done that, I would not have found myself in this mess.
“Adetunji does not want to do anything. He does not work. He prefers to sleep night and day. He expects me to provide for his needs,” she said
She also alleged that her husband has a bad temper.
However, the respondent did not appear in court to answer the allegation.
The bailiff informed the court that he served hearing notices on Adetunji on two occasions.
