The Statement Of Press Addressed By PDP Ekiti State Chapter Chairman, Mr. Gboyega Oguntuwase reads:
We received with shock the death of one of our members in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Adedeji representing Ekiti South/West constituency 2 who was shot by unknown gunmen last week.
His death was a great loss to us in the People’s Democratic Party, Ekiti State but we believe that those who were behind the gruesome murder shall not have any place to rest until they are fished out.
We commiserate with his family and constituents as we pray that God will will give them the fortitude to bear this sad moment.
This murder has again brought to the fore the rampaging insecurities that has befallen the state since the return of the All Progressive Congress government led by Dr kayode Fayemi in the state.
We want to say without being immodest that the number of people killed since the governorship primaries of the APC till date has been unprecedented comparing to the experience of the past four years. Just immediately Dr Fayemi became the governorship candidate of APC it was welcomed with killings at their Party Secretariat while one of them, Hon Opeyemi Bamidele was also shot before he was revived at the hospital abroad.
Also two weeks after innaguration of the present government the state treasurer of the APC, Elder Moses Adeoye was shot dead in Otun Ekiti while another person was killed in Ilogbo Ekiti. Within the same period some gunmen killed two souls in Ogotun Ekiti as if the APC government is synonymous with bloodshed.
As a Party, PDP expected that Dr Fayemi will improve on the effective security guards he met when he returned to the State but it’s sad that rather than doing that assassination, roberry and kidnapping has taken over the state.
We appeal to the APC Governor to as a matter of urgency to address the situation before Ekiti State is turned to a land of blood suckers.
We equally call on the security agencies in the state to rise to the occasion so that these unwelcome insecurities could be put to check.
In the meantime, PDP has declared seven days murning for the late legislature.
Chairman, PDP Ekiti State.
