Super Eagles’ fans in Benin, have cautioned the team against complacency after their Saturday’s victory against the Libyan National Team, until they secure the ticket for the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The fans, who spoke in interviews with newsmen on Monday, praised the team following their superlative performance against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.
They said a lot still needed to be done if their qualification for the tournament was anything to go by.
They said the Saturday’s victory which now placed Nigeria in second position behind South Africa, needed to be consolidated upon.
According to one of the fans, John Omoruyi, Eagles have all it takes to secure qualification for the biggest Africa football showpiece.
Omoruyi advised the Eagles to raise their games, saying that in football, anything could happen.
“I was very much satisfied with their level of display against the Libyans in Uyo. I just hope they keep feat; though there is still room for improvement, ‘’ he said.
Another fan, Uyi Osazuwa, who was particularly happy with the Saturday’s score line said that the team needed to make use of every opportunity that comes their way, by scoring more goals against their opponent.
“We are currently behind the Bafana Bafana team on a point difference and with the way things are going, the number of goals scored may be used to decide who qualifies at the end of the day,’’ he said.
Another fan, John Ebidah, said that the Eagles needed to keep working as one united and indivisible team if they were to qualify for the finals in 2019.
Eagles on Saturday, walloped their North African counterparts by four goals to nothing.
In the match, Odion Ighalo scored his first hat trick for the National Team, while Kalu made it four.
Eagles will play the return match on Tuesday against the Libyan team.
