A Pan Yoruba Socio-cultural group, the Yoruba KO’YA Movement will on Tuesday May 22nd 2018 hold a No-Holds Barred Conference to deliberate on Food Security in South West, Nigeria with the theme: Protecting Yoruba Land.
In a statement made available to news men on Thursday in Lagos, the National Director of Organization and Publicity of the group, Mr. Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye said the aims and objectives of the conference is to examine the effects of Fulani herdsmen-farmers crisis on food security in south west geo-political region of Nigeria; examine the causes of Fulani herdsmen and farmers crisis in Yoruba Land and ascertain the level of awareness of Yoruba people on issues relating to food security in the area.
Other objectives stated in the statement says the conference would help to examine the level of food availability and accessibility as a result of Fulani herdsmen and farmers crisis in south west region; evaluate the effects of Fulani herdsmen and farmers crisis on food and security in Western Nigeria State; discuss the management options of the Fulani herdsmen and farmers crisis as it affects food and security in Yoruba Land.
He said the conference is being convened to plan for solutions to food and security challenges confronting Yoruba people and it is hoped that it would go a long way to encourage more meaningful development efforts on issues relating to the effects of Fulani herdsmen-farmers crisis on food and security in south west region.
Adeleye said the conference will afford all those whose livelihood are affected to gain understanding of how Fulani herdsmen-farmers crisis can be amazingly curtailed.
He said those expected as participants at the occasion are self-determination groups such as members of Hunters and Vigilante Unions, Market Men and Women Associations, Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), Farmers and Young Entrepreneurs with vast interest in agriculture in all the six south west states.
Key Note Speakers at the occasion are the Aare Onakakafo of Yoruba Land, Otunba Gani Adams, Retired Bishop of Methodist Church, Arch. Ayo Ladigbolu, Seasoned Media Entrepreneur and Co-founder of Yoruba KO’YA Movement, Otunba ‘Deji Osibogun, Pro Democracy Crusader, Dr. Amos Akingba among others.
The event which holds at Atiba Hall, Alaafin Palace, Oyo, is expected to be chaired by the Alaafin of Oyo Kingdom, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111 at 10am.
