The death has been announced of former Senate Majority Whip, Sen. Mahmud Kanti Bello at the age of 72.
Bello, who represented Katsina North Senatorial District from 2003 to 2015, died in Abuja Tuesday morning and will be buried in his Katsina country home by 4pm.
TheElite Times gathered that the funeral prayer for the deceased is currently going on at the National Mosque, Abuja by 2pm before his body is airlifted to Katsina for interment.
Kanti-Bello was a member of the then ruling PDP before dumping the party in 2011 and joined the defunct Congress of Progressives Change (CPC) to run for 2011 election which he won.
He tried unsuccessfully to run for 4th term on the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) .
The deceased had served as General Manager of Katsina Steel Rolling Mills for over 10 years and contested for the governorship of Katsina State in 1993 under the defunct Social Democratic Party.
